uTrack: Custom AGV for highly complex serial assembly

Minimum takt times
for large agricultural manufacturing

An assembly line places the highest demands on automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems. When material flow directly determines the production takt, precision, availability, and absolute process reliability are critical. Under exactly these conditions, an assembly line at a German site of an internationally operating large agricultural manufacturer was successfully implemented using uTrack AGVs.

Minimum takt times for large agricultural manufacturing

What makes this project unique is the combination of several extreme requirements that are rarely realized simultaneously in serial production environments:

  • Payloads of up to 8,000 kg
  • Very short takt times in a continuous assembly flow
  • High system availability and robustness
  • Ultra‑low vehicle height of just 300 mm, despite heavy-load demands
  • Customized vehicle geometry for seamless integration into an existing line

This combination clearly demonstrates that a standard AGV design is insufficient for this application. What is required instead is precise engineering, a robust system architecture, and a deep understanding of the specific assembly processes involved. SIEMPELKAMP Transport Systems implemented a precisely tailored uTrack system for this application. The system is fully operational, ensures reliable transport of heavy large tractors, and sustainably stabilizes the assembly line takt. As a result, it makes a significant contribution to optimized assembly processes and high process reliability in serial production.
