CustomTrack: Tadano introduces a new transport system for optimized boom assembly

With the new manual transport system for four parallel takt-controlled assembly lines, we are creating a future-ready production environment together with Tadano Europe. The customized CustomTrack transport carts enable precise handling of crane booms. The solution increases efficiency and ergonomics while remaining flexibly scalable.
The transport solution enables takt-based flow production. This results in a significant increase in efficiency through simplified handling and reduced overhead crane movements. The STS system brings structure to the assembly lines and improves assembly processes. Intuitive operation supports assembly workers and simplifies the entire assembly workflow. The system is designed to meet future requirements. Additional advantages: the circular rail system can be easily crossed by pallet trucks as well as tool and material carts. It provides a trip-free and easy-to-clean working environment.
A particular challenge was integrating the customized, highly functional transport system during ongoing production and within a very short timeframe. A key factor in the project’s success was the close and open collaboration with the team led by Erik Schuckmann, Project Manager at Tadano. This made it possible to implement the project in record time. Not a customer–supplier relationship, but a true project partnership.
